What’s lurking under Your Kitchen Sink?

Have you ever looked at the chemicals in your favorite household cleaning products? I recently did and I was shocked at what I found. You can check out the Household Database yourself  and find out if your favorite products have harmful chemicals like kerosene, phenols, cresol, lye, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, sulfuric acid, petroleum distillates, ammonia, sodium hydroxide, butyl cellosolve, phosphoric acid, formaldehyde, chlorine bleach, morpholine, phthalates. I warn that you may be shocked in what you find!

Shaklee has an entire line of safe, natural and non toxic cleaning choices in their Shaklee Get Clean Kits! You can feel 100% safe using these products to clean your home and have the comfort of knowing that they have been reviewed and endorsed by Healthy Child Healthy World. Shaklee believes that health isn’t just about what you put in your body; it’s about everything around you. Shaklee’s Get Clean gives you a full line of natural and nontoxic cleaning choices that are Safe for You, Your Home, and Your Planet.

I recently had the opportunity to review my own Get Clean Kit. I was very excited to try these products after seeing what was in the products I was using. I love that the Get Clean products have no harmful or hazardous chemicals and still outperform 20 national brands.  This beautiful cleaning caddy and Shaklee products fit nicely under my kitchen sink now!  I really like all of the products and it feels great knowing they are safe and environmentally friendly.  I love the Dish Wash Liquid Concentrate.  It amazes me that just a few drops get even the dirtiest dishes squeaky clean.

If the fact that these products are safer than the your other cleaners isn’t enough incentive, check these little tidbits out!  By purchasing the Get Clean Starter Kit you will also make a positive impact on the environment by:

  • Keeping 108 pounds of packaging waste out of landfills
  • Eliminating 248 pounds of greeenhouse gas!
  • You would also normally spend $3400 for ready to use cleaners to get the same amount of clean found in the Get Clean Starter Kit!* You only need 1/4 teaspoon to make 16 oz of the all-purpose cleaner for only $0.03!! * Based on comparing number of uses as set forth on product labels of conventional, ready-to-use cleaners.
  • Passing on one Get Clean kit to a friend is the equivalent of planting 10 trees!

Bottom line:  You can save money and the planet by using safe products!

One lucky Deal Hunting Diva reader will  receive a Shaklee Mini Household Kit {$46.95 retail value}

All we use is vinegar and baking soda but it would be nice to win so I can just spray what I need to instead of mixing stuff up to use!

I found ammonia compounds in the product I’m using. I’m trying to switch to all natural products again. Did it before but then I got lax. I’m going to be getting another dog/puppy in the next few months so I’d like to start off on the right foot with all green cleaning products.

Charlotte Rodriguez April 8, 2012 at 9:12 am

Suzannah Clark April 12, 2012 at 4:20 pm

We have chlorine…ugh! And we have a daughter with a lung disease..so we could use some cleaners that won’t affect her negatively.

Cori Westphal April 12, 2012 at 4:27 pm

Actually right now, I use almost all Melaleuca products which are natural as well. The only problem is it costs me a fortune! It’s crazy expensive but I love knowing exactly what I’m putting in my house. I’d love a more economical alternative!

so many dangerous chemicals – want to transition to natural for the kids!

Jennifer Crooks April 13, 2012 at 10:43 pm

I have almost all of those under my sink. I need a green make over because I’m so bad to use what I grew up watching my mom use.

Cindy B April 14, 2012 at 2:30 am

We don’t keep our cleaners under our sink for safety but there are still all kinds of yucky things in them. Thanks for an opportunity to replace them with cleaners that work but are safer for us.

Deidra Bigham April 14, 2012 at 4:18 am

I found many of the items on the list you gave. Clearly, even one is too many. Everyone in my home could benefit from the house going green, even the pets.

angie lilly aka tofu fairy on FB April 14, 2012 at 1:13 pm

I did not even have to look because none of these chemicals are anywhere in my house. I switched over to all natural, non-toxic, eco-friendy cleaners many years ago to avoid them. I don’t actually need a makeover, but already love this brand and would love to win some free products, both ones I already love and some that I have not yet tried! I hope that is OK!!
