Gratitude, Thankfulness, Gratefulness, & Appreciation

This November, I thought it would be a perfect time to give thanks and encourage everyone else to do the same!

We are firm believers that what you put it out into the universe is what you will receive back! One of our favorite books is, The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes. If you haven’t read it, you really should.  It is a great reference to remind us of what is important and to stay positive.

In the busy world we live in today, it is so easy to forget to give gratitude.  To be grateful for what we have. To appreciate our loved ones.  To show humility.  To express Thanks.

With Thanksgiving coming,  I thought we would do a segment of posts for 30 Days of Gratitude!!  Please join us in the next month in thinking positively and expressing gratitude.  Try it with us and see if you feel better in general after a month of living more positively!

My daughter has wonder and curiosity, my husband has amazing patience, my mother has sincere empathy, and my father has determination. Those are their most wonderful qualities, among others.

Now why ruin a perfectly good gratefulness challenge by bringing up family? MY family? 90% of which is made up of narcissists & other garden variety disordered personalities? I’d be hard pressed to find one lovable quality in that lot, but of the 10% who are emotionally adept, my older brother and my parents share the same qualities that I hold near and dear to my heart: a witty and peculiar sense of humor, being honest and straightforward while giving others the feeling that they can be honest and straightforward with them too, their ability to truly listen to others & actually care about what they are saying, and my most treasured quality, providing proven unconditional love NO MATTER WHAT.

I learned the hard way that not all family (in my case, the 90%) is capable of familial unconditional love and are actually quite unforgiving of relatively minor things and will retaliate in cruel ways. Having experienced this part of my family, I am beyond grateful for those family members that DO have unconditional love. I don’t need to be liked by my family but my sense of what’s right in the world depends on being loved by my family. No matter what.

My family is honest and caring and would do anything to help one another out.

My dad is such a hard worker – he would do anything for his family. My mom is selfless – she always sacrificed things for herself so that me and my siblings had everything we needed. My grandma would do anything for me and my siblings – she is always there when we need her. I love my family!
